The drink gained wider recognition thanks to its inclusion in The Savoy Cocktail Book by Harry Craddock, published in 1930.

Ingredients

1 ¾ oz (50 ml) Scotch whisky – Use a good-quality, full-bodied Scotch as the base

⅞ oz (25 ml) sweet vermouth

⅓ oz (10 ml) Bénédictine liqueur

2–3 dashes of Angostura bitters (to taste)
